12 off 1 ball – Andre Adams pulled off an improbable victory

Andre Adams pulled off superficially an impossible task of scoring 12 runs off 1 ball to win an unlikely match for his team, Auckland, in a dream finish. In a state T20 league game between Auckland and Northern Districts at Seddon Park in Hamilton on 28th January 2007, Andre Adams stunned the world with his incredible batting performance.

After electing to bat first, Northern Districts put 160 runs on the board. In reply, Auckland was off to a modest start. Last over was bowled by seamier Graeme Aldridge who bowled exceptionally well earlier. He was given this job and he did it extremely well until the batting side required 12 runs off 2 ball, effectively 2 sixes.

The second-last delivery was a yorker on the 3rd stump from the off stump. It was brilliantly bowled as Andre Adams had no clue whatsoever since he played and missed that one. Commentators felt that the game was over since 12 runs on one single delivery is an impossible task.

Once again the bowler ran in and he tried to bowl another yorker perhaps but it turned out to be a waist-high full toss which was called no ball and the batsmen edged it to 4 runs. Hopes were up and running again in a space of single delivery. Bowler ran in to bowl the final bowl, tried to bowl a yorker again but it turned out to be a half-volley length delivery and it was dispatched for a gigantic six over long on region. Out of nowhere, Andre Adams became the hero of the match who finished the match with 11* runs off 4 balls with 2 match-winning strikes on last delivery.
